After developing a facility needs summary to assist the Museum with fundraising, Slack Alost provided architectural design services for a temporary museum, and then was selected to plan and design the museum's permanent home on Shreveport's riverfront.

The 67,000 square foot center's focal point is a three-story Exhibit Hall that features an interpretive exhibit of the Red River which emphasizes the river environment, water dynamics, aqua culture and energy technology.

Sci-Port Discovery Center also includes a 180-seat IMAX Dome Screen Theater and additional halls for exhibits on Bodyworks, Technology and Physical Sciences. The building also has a demonstration lab, gift shop, restaurant facilities, administrative offices and storage areas.
