About US
For over 25 years, Slack Alost Architecture has provided
comprehensive solutions in the planning and design of
facilities. In 1980 Stewart Slack began offering architectural
services in his hometown of Shreveport. His plan: to
provide traditional architectural and planning services
throughout the state of Louisiana.
After building a strong portfolio in residential design, Stewart branched out and began providing architecture services to several health care and educational institutions.
As the firm grew, Mike Alost joined the team to provide expertise in the planning
and design of educational and medical facilities. Over the years, Slack Alost
received commissions in a wide variety of building types including: public
facilities; hospitals; museums; and research facilities. Slack Alost Architecture
has successfully completed over $700 million dollars in projects.
Award-Winning Signature Projects
Slack Alost has achieved phenomenal success by positioning
itself as the problem solver in creating comprehensive
design solutions. Stewart and Mike's key strength
is managing the project delivery process for clients.
Working under this premise, they created project
teams that could provide additional resources from
a national perspective. As a result, Slack Alost
has consistently captured some of the most exciting projects
in the region.
Stewart and Mike's joint vision of bringing national quality solutions by building strong local relationships has produced a number of award-winning signature projects including: the Biomedical Research Institute, Shreveport Regional Airport, Christus Schumpert On Line, Sci-Port Discovery Center, Caddo Parish Juvenile Justice Complex, and the Shreveport Convention Center.

Our Newest
Principal
In 2002, Sara McCann joined the firm to serve as Project Architect.
Earlier this year, Sara became a Principal of the firm and is now responsible
for the day-to-day operations. The addition of Sara to the Slack Alost
management team will enable Stewart and Mike to concentrate on a new growing
practice within the firm – land development and real estate construction.
This new component was added as a result of assisting many new clients with project
financing. Projects currently on the board include Bel Sole Condominiums in Gulf
Shores, Alabama and the LifeCare Hospital of San Antonio.
